In addition, I designed and taught a new course on Spanish Language Cultural and Literary Studies and implemented the use of the foreign language laboratory at this university. During this time, I worked as an ESL instructor for project HOPE, a program run by this school and sponsored by the state of Illinois, to enhance opportunities for high school Hispanic students. Likewise, I worked as a Spanish instructor for UPWARD BOUND, another program designed and sponsored by this university to provide opportunities for high school students to get into college.
